Bridges & Crowns
If, after a thorough examination, your dentist in Hawthorne Dr. Adam Rauzman believes an original or replacement filling will only further destabilize the structural integrity of one or more teeth, he may suggest a crown or a bridge. When significant decay threatens the life of a tooth, a metal-free crown or a bridge is one of the best forms of long-term protection.
Crowns are porcelain, ceramic or acrylic structures designed by Dr. Rauzman and our lab in the shape of your tooth to protect your roots by covering your remaining tooth material. By anchoring itself to neighboring teeth for added strength, a bridge is the ideal solution for teeth that have been extracted, knocked out or fallen out on their own.
Crowns and bridges restore a tooth to its original strength and shape; protecting it from extensive wear, misalignment and disease. They can brighten, reshape and realign existing teeth, enhancing the health and attractiveness of your smile.
Bridges can last at least a decade. Crowns, two. Given the proper care, these restorations may even last a lifetime. The health and beauty of your teeth can be restored and protected in a few easy, comfortable visits with Hawthorne dentist Dr. Adam Rauzman.
The actual process of crowning and bridge-building is the most important determining factor in the success or failure of your dental work.
Hawthorne dentist, Dr. Adam Rauzman only requires about 45 minutes of your time on two separate visits to place your crown. First, we remove any existing fillings and decay and then we build up the tooth. Next, we take a final impression and insert a temporary crown. This gives you several weeks to get used to the feel of the crown inside your mouth while our lab fabricates the final porcelain version. When we receive the final crown you come back into the office for a short visit where we cement it. It's simple, straightforward and quick!
The bridge process is very similar to a crown, but in-office visits take a little longer, since three teeth are involved rather than just one. Bridge replacement also requires that your mouth be free of gum disease.
If you prefer to take it a little slower and wear provisionals to determine just the right fit and feel of your restoration, we can have your crown or bridge tailored to your exact specs through Dr. Rauzman's partnership with talented ceramists at our world-class laboratory.
