There are many things in the world that threaten to harm the teeth, gums, and smile. Unfortunately, dry mouth is one of them. If you’re not careful, dry mouth can promote the development of cavities. This is because there isn’t enough saliva to wash bacteria away and neutralize the acids in the mouth. It’s best to treat dry mouth as soon as possible if you are a victim. Our dentists, Dr. Adam Rauzman and associates, are happy to help you treat it by recommending that you do the following things:

-Drink plenty of water (It’s best to sip on water throughout the day.)

-Suck on sugar-free candy or chew sugar-free gum regularly (This can help you produce more saliva.)

-Avoid drinking beverages that have caffeine (Caffeine tends to dry out the mouth.)

-Breathe through your nose more often than your mouth (Doing so can reduce the amount of times your mouth is dry.)

-Stop smoking (Smoking is a major culprit of dry mouth.)

-Rinse your mouth with mouth rinse daily (It’s recommended to avoid using mouth rinse that contains alcohol.)
