Do you want a top-notch oral hygiene routine? If so, good for you! Our dentist, Dr. Adam Rauzman, loves to hear that. This is because oral hygiene is vital for a strong and healthy smile, and the better your oral hygiene routine is, the better your oral health can be! So, to help you have a better oral hygiene cleaning technique, our dentist is happy to give you some tips.

-When you brush your teeth, use the proper tools. These should include a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. The soft bristles are gentle with your gums as they thoroughly clean the teeth and the fluoride strengthens and nourishes the tooth enamel. It’s also recommended to use products that have been approved by the American Dental Association.

-Try to avoid rinsing your mouth with water when you’re done brushing your teeth. If you wait to rinse, then the fluoride in the toothpaste has more time to seep into the enamel and nourish it.

-As you floss, use a tool that is easier to maneuver. This is recommended because if the floss is tough to use, it can result in oral tissue damage. Along that note, be careful along the gumline as you floss.

-Add rinsing to the end of your oral hygiene routine at night. After you brush and floss, rinse your mouth with antibacterial or fluoride mouthwash. Doing so can kill more bacteria in your mouth and even strengthen your smile.
