The force involved when a tooth is knocked out can cause so much trauma to the tooth and surrounding gums that it results in the total loss of the tooth. In order to treat the pain and prevent an infection from developing, your dentist, Dr. Adam Rauzman, might need to extract the remnants of the root from the socket.

When you’re ready to restore the tooth, our dentist might recommend installing a dental implant.

First, Dr. Adam Rauzman examine the jaw structure in the area. It’s important to assess if you have the sufficient jaw structure to anchor an implant. Otherwise a bone graft procedure will need to be performed in advance of the implant procedure.

He will then install the implant. A careful incision will be made in your gums. A narrow channel will then be made in your jaw bone. A titanium implant will be screwed into the channel in the bone and your gums will be sutured closed.

Titanium is known for being biologically safe and will completely fuse with your natural bone in a process known as osseointegration.

Once your gums have healed and the titanium implant has been fully integrated into the surrounding bone tissues, your dentist can go about the process of installing a crown. This will fully restore the missing tooth.

If you’ve had a tooth knocked out, you should contact Adam Rauzman, DDS at 973-427-4201 for immediate treatment with a dental implant in Hawthorne, New Jersey.
